To kick start the Art Los Angeles Contemporary art fair, Judy Chicago reactivated and reinterpreted the "Disappearing Environments", which she created back in 1968 with Lloyd Hamrol and Eric Orr. For this performance/ temporary sculpture piece, the artist built several pyramid-shaped structures using a total of 25 tons of dry ice. The fog from the disintegration of the ice would shroud the whole environment it surrounded. The installation served as a conceptual commentary on the rapid commercial development in the city.
