LONDON – It’s show time for Nicola Lees. She was appointed Frieze Foundation’s curator earlier this year and has been responsible for the latest batch of site-specific artist commissions that will sit alongside the fair, which opened Thursday in Regent’s Park.
For 2013, Lees has thought carefully about the physical space that Frieze Projects will inhabit, namely how the artists work can be shown in the space for the duration of the fair, but also how she can incorporate some of her trademark multidisciplinary and performance interests into the experience as well. Lees talked Blouin ARTINFO UK through the concept behind her Frieze Projects debut and where the commissions sit within the practices of the artists on show.
The artists commissioned to make site-specific work for Frieze Projects 2013 are: Andreas Angelidakis, Gerry Bibby, Rivane Neuenschwander, Ken Okiishi, Angelo Plessas, Lili Reynaud-Dewar and Josef Strau.
Frieze London runs October 17 – 20.
