The art world’s elite met up at the Kunstmuseum Basel on Wednesday night for a cocktail party and dinner hosted by Art.sy co-founder Dasha Zhukova, Daphne Guinness, and The Daily Beast’s Tina Brown, and sponsored by Credit Suisse. Peter Brant, Stephanie Seymour and their sons Peter Brant Jr. and Harry Brant, along with Vito Schnabel, Larry Gagosian, Yvonne Force Villareal, Alberto Mugrabi, Adam Weinberg, Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld, and Richard Chang were among the New Yorkers who lent an East Coast vibe to the event.
The cocktail hour featured a lively discussion between Brown and artist Theaster Gates, who spoke poignantly about his urban renewal projects in inner city Chicago. Thereafter, internationals including Princess Alia Al-Senussi, Nicolas Berggruen, Sydney Picasso, Eli and Edythe Broad, and Jean Pigozzi descended the mezzanine steps into the museum’s courtyard for a seated dinner. After a private viewing of the Kunstmuseum’s Picasso exhibition drawn from local collections, party guest Diana Picasso, the artist’s granddaughter, gave a few lucky guests a tour.
