More than 150 artists from 37 countries are taking part in the 55th Venice Biennale, the world's largest non-commercial art exhibition.
Those artists, according Massimiliano Gioni, director of the Biennale, are the central focus of the show “The Encyclopaedic Palace,” which borrows its title from a utopian project by architect Marino Auriti. Massimiliano Gioni, is the youngest curator in the history of the Biennale. He has said he felt the need to "do something unusual" during his turn at the helm.
“The Encyclopedic Palace is an exhibition about the desire to see and know everything,” Gioni told ARTINFO in front of the Central Pavilion at the Giardini, where the first part of the exhibition is housed. The exhibition continues at the Arsenale.
The 55th International Art Exhibition takes place in Venice from June 1st to November 24th, 2013 at the Giardini and at the Arsenale, as well as in various venues the city.
