Keith Haring’s iconographic work has been reinterpreted on everything from sculptural NicholasKirkwood platforms to skate-brat OBEY snapbacks. Bridging the haute and the High Street, his DJ-ing dogs, reverberating hearts and dancing angels are a consistent fan favorite among the sartorial set – and their popularity seems to be permanent. The latest homage is sewn front-and-center across Lucien Pellat-Finet’s ultrafine wares.
Pellat-Finet is known to insider-y shoppers as the purveyor of haute-pop sweaters costing thousands. He’s shameless in a Robertson Boulevard kind of way; intarsia pot leaves and rhinestone-dotted skulls are among the most attention-grabbing themes, spun from the finest Scottish cashmere new money can buy. Yet in recent years, Pellat-Finet has diversified (and thankfully down-priced) his product offerings, with everything from cranium-crowned watches to Day-Glo enamel bracelets. Luckily, his new Keith Haring capsule – fashioned with the blessing of the late artist’s estate – has something for wallets of all sizes.
The line features six tops – ranging from the aforementioned knits to simple cotton T-shirts – complete with famous, insta-recognizable Haring motifs. Our favorite is the black intarsia sweater, with the artist's animated figures holding up a throbbing heart. The pieces will be carried at Pellat-Finet’s Paris boutique through the summer, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Keith Haring Foundation. Keith and cashmere – a feel-good blend if we've ever seen one.
