Extensive Yquem and Bordeaux on Offer at Artcurial Auction Feb 5-6
The Artcurial’s wine and spirit auction taking place Feb 5-6 in Paris will offer three sought-after “Y de Yquem” 2011 magnums, the white dry wine produced by the Sauternes château only in some particular years. Château Yquem will also release a limited amount of its 2011 sweet wine. Along with these new wines, several older Yquem vintages from some remarkable years (1893, 1947, 1959, 1983, 1987, 1988) will also be on offer.
The core of the auction is an extended collection of Bordeaux, including several Mouton Rothschild with interesting artwork label vintages: 1947 (Jean Cocteau), 1948 (Marie Laurencin), 1982 (John Huston), 1985 (Paul Delvaux), 1995 (Antoni Tapies), 1996 (Gu Gan) and 1998 (Rufino Tamayo).
Ancient vintages of Lafite-Rothschild (1858, 1906, 1918) and some very good younger ones (particularly the 1994 to 1999 period) should also attract buyers. Wines from Châteaux Angelus and Pavie, which have recently been elected to the « A » grade in the Saint-Emilion classification, will also be on offer along with their counterparts Cheval Blanc and Ausone. Haut-Brion shows an impressive list of great vintages (beginning from 1959), as well as Cos d'Estournel, Gruaud Larose and Carruades de Lafite.
