SINGAPORE — The seventh edition of Art Dubai 2013, from March 20 – 23, will feature 75 galleries from 30 countries and also present a strong not-for-profit program of curatorial and educational projects.

Among the not-for-profit programs is “Sculpture on the Beach” — an exhibition of large-scale works on the Mina A’Salam beach curated by Chus Martinez, chief curator of El Museo del Barrio, and formerly Documenta 13’s head of department. The selected artists will be announced in February.

Several artists — Dina Danish, Joe Namy, Yudi Noor, Ahmet Öğüt, Shi Jinsong, Basim Magdy, Ehsan Ul Haq, Mohammed Kazem, Hind Bin Demaithan, Farideh Lashai, and Mary Evans — have been commissioned to create site-specific works for the fair, while the winners of the 2013 Abraaj Group Art Prize — Vartan Avakian (Lebanon), Iman Issa (Egypt), Huma Mulji (Pakistan), Hrair Sarkissian (Syria), and Rayyane Tabet (Lebanon) are creating major new works to be unveiled at the fair.

Platform China, The Pace Gallery, and Sfeir-Semler are some of the returning galleries while new entrants include Victoria Miro, Almine Rech Gallery, and Rampa and Rodeo.

The fair’s 2013 Marker program, which focuses on West Africa, will appear within a set of curated concept stands located in the fair’s main gallery halls.

Visitors can also look forward to two interesting audio initiatives. New York-based Kuwaiti musician Fatima Al Qadiri is composing a series of short audio pieces to be amplified at pre-determined times of day during the fair’s opening hours, providing visitors with a soundtrack to the event.

Fari Bradley, the London-based radio producer and presenter, is creating an on-site radio station with the support of the British Council. Her art fair broadcasts will also be available via a live radio Web stream, enabling global audiences to digitally experience Art Dubai.
