Daniel Boulud Partners with The Dalmore on a Bespoke Scotch
Daniel Boulud, the Michelin-starred chef behind Daniel, Café Boulud, and DB Bistro Moderne, is getting into the alcohol business — again. After partnering up with wine and champagne private labels, Boulud recently announced a collaboration with the Dalmore Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
The collaborative effort, named The Dalmore Selected By Daniel Boulud, “is a blend of The Dalmore single malts that had been finished in Muscatel, Madeira, and Port casks,” and that he wanted “a slightly masculine, complex, but not overly simple whisky,” reports BourbonBlog. The limited-edition bottle will bear the chef’s signature spirit but has yet to go into production; it has been in the blending process for the past six months.
The Dalmore tasting notes report that the Boulud Scotch’s nose will be “generous and full-bodied as attractive sensual aromas of tarte tatin, caramelized orange segments, rich praline, and crushed almonds arouse the senses,” while decadent flavors like dark chocolates filled with fondant, banana fig cake, Czar plums, dayenne du comice pear, Turkish delight, black maraschino cherries, mocha, and creamy fudge will appear in the taste.
Unfortunately, there are no plans to make the special Scotch available on the retail market — for now. You’ll have to go to one of Boulud’s New York eateries this spring, when the bespoke blend is set to make its debut.
