PARIS – In an uncanny turn of events, “Moon River” crooner Andy Williams passed away, aged 84, around the same time the Rochas spring collection took place in Paris today, with its ’50s-era retro-glam inspiration. Pinched waists, pencil skirts, exaggerated Cinderella shapes – nearly all with the midriff bare, because not even designer Marco Zanini wants to see the corset return – dominated the runway at the Grand Palais. They were accessorized with headbands and court-ready sneakers, some of them laced up to the knee (ah, that’s where the corset laces went). Which brings us to the second theme of the show: tennis. This was a spring collection after all. Crisp white tops and sportif brocade skirts volleyed the message home. Round sunglasses, mostly white, were also ace.
