Always up for a fantasy adventure, Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy traveled back to Medieval times for their spring/summer 2013 collection. Draped chain and gunmetal guipure gave the impression of armor, while leather fringe and black grommeted lace-up leather pants added a tough edge. M.C. Escher-like cubes graced some skirts, a green ivy print accented dresses, and one dress referenced dragon wings. Overall, the mixture of textures — guipure, silk, leather, metallic organza, and iridescent material — went well together, providing a cohesive fantastical journey that stemmed from two exceptionally creative minds.
