Chanel Exhibits at the Saatchi Gallery
Coco Chanel may have designed the iconic little black dress, but the Chanel exhibit opening in October at London's Saatchi Gallery is all about Karl Lagerfeld’s little black jacket.
Based on the book of the same name, the "Little Black Jacket" is a photographic exhibition showcasing the versatility of the garment. Modeled by Lagerfeld’s celebrity friends and muses, the images offer various interpretations of the LBJ. Chic luminaries include Sarah Jessica Parker wearing hers as a crown, Lily Allen throwing it on like a cape, Stella Tennant draping it, and Edie Campbell transforming it into a vest.
Largerfeld shot all of the 113 photos with former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld. The book, which was published in March this year, launched with an exhibition in Tokyo attended by the likes of Parker, Alice Dellal, and Roitfeld. The show has since done rounds in Hong Kong, New York, and Taipei, before coming to London.
Beyond the Saatchi Gallery, the brand’s Bond Street, Sloane Street, and Brompton Cross boutiques will celebrate the exhibition and pay homage to the iconic garment with window displays of jackets from its current collection.
“The Little Black Jacket: CHANEL’s classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld” will run from October 12-28 at the Saatchi Gallery. Free admission.
The book will be available worldwide in bookstores this autumn.
