From Chic Trenches to Skinny Ties: The 5 Most Wearable Olympic Uniforms
The list of designers who conceived uniforms for the London 2012 Olympics sounds like a fashion week program. Stella McCartney reconfigured the Union Jack with Adidas for Team Great Britain, Emporio Armani kept it simple with midnight blue and white for Team Italy, and Hermès went back to its equestrian roots with chic riding jackets for France’s show-jumping and eventing teams. Prada, Ralph Lauren, and Salvatore Ferragamo also contributed kits for the games, prompting Giorgio Armani to declare London 2012 “the most fashionable Olympic Games ever.” On Friday the Olympic Stadium’s field will double as a global runway when athletes from around the world parade in their Opening Ceremony uniforms to kick off this year’s festivities. ARTINFO selected five of the most wearable outfits — just in case you want to know who is in the running for the best-dressed gold.
