The Eyes of Dasha Zhukova: See New Tortoise Shell Shades Designed by the Russian Art Tsarina
Despite running Moscow’s Garage Center for Contemporary Culture and the like-named fashion-art hybrid magazine Garage; serving on the board of trustees at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; launching fine art sales Web site Art.sy; and designing her clothing line Kova & T; Russian heiress Dasha Zhukova found the time to create sunglasses for Daniel Silberman and Justin “Jus Ske” Salguero’s New York-based eyewear line, Illesteva.
The "Dasha for Illesteva" sunglasses debuted last weekend at Miami Beach fashion boutique the Webster. The limited edition round-framed specs, which come in tortoise and light tortoise, are handmade in France from an acetate mix. A portion of the profit from the sunglasses will go to Restoring Vision, a non-profit organization that sources reading glasses and sunglasses, supplying them at a nominal charge to groups that are either going on missions in developing countries or serving the underprivileged.
"I've been a fan of what Jus Ske and Daniel are doing with Illesteva for a long time now," said Zhukova in a statement. "To be able to creatively collaborative with them on a project benefiting Restoring Vision has been an amazing experience."
Looks like the feeling is mutual — DJ Jus Ske recently helped Zhukova out by providing the tunes for her Louis Vuitton-sponsored Art.sy bash during Art Basel Miami Beach on November 30.
Better act fast — there are only 100 pairs of each of the “Dasha for Illesteva” colorways, available for $295 in New York and Los Angeles at Opening Ceremony, in Paris at Colette, or online at Net-a-Porter.
