The holidays are here, and Barneys tapped pop phenom Lady Gaga to be the mastermind behind its 2011 holiday windows, which she unveiled last week. Gaga, in collaboration with her stylist and Thierry Mugler creative director Nicola Formichetti; artist collective assume vivid astro focus members Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaid Pierson; and Barneys creative director Dennis Friedman, presents Gaga’s Workshop, an eccentric explosion of art installations. Past an entrance reminiscent of Tim Burton's 2009, record-breaking MoMA show, the thematic displays include a Candy Shop, Gaga’s Boudoir, and Gaga’s Crystal Cave, filled with sculptures and gifts like stuffed little monsters and Chocolate Gaga sugar cookies modeled after Alexander McQueen’s armadillo platforms. In true holiday spirit, 25 percent of profits from items sold at Gaga’s Workshop helps fund her youth empowerment non-profit, the Born This Way Foundation.
