The drama over who owns Andy Warhol's portrait of Farrah Fawcett continues, now with dueling lawsuits. Earlier this week, the University of Texas filed suit against Ryan O'Neal, Fawcett's longtime partner, for hiding a silkscreen portrait that Fawcett had left to her alma mater in her will. Now, O'Neal has filed his own lawsuit against Craig Nevius, a friend and former business partner of Fawcett's, who had been assisting the university in the search for the painting.

Investigators hired by the university suspected O'Neal was hiding the painting after they spotted it hanging above his bed during the first episode of his new reality show, "Ryan and Tatum: The O'Neals." The school may have never found the painting, however, without the help of Nevius, who seems to have suspected the actor all along. "I told the university, 'Be patient and wait, because this man is so arrogant, he's going to show it,'" he told ABC in an interview. Now, Nevius's own prophetic words seem to have landed him in court: O'Neal is suing him for defamation.

The actor is seeking more than $1 million in damages, according to the Associated Press. The suit claims Nevius caused O'Neal "humiliation, mental anguish, and emotional distress," reports TMZ, which broke the story. It also alleges that the accusation that O'Neal stole the painting is "false, malicious, and defamatory." O'Neal maintains that Warhol, a close friend, gave him the portrait before he ever met the actress.

As if things couldn't get any weirder, Nevius proceeded to issue a statement to TMZ saying that "at no time have I ever claimed" Ryan stole the portrait. Sounds like it's about time those two got a reality show to sort this whole thing out. Hey, it worked for Ryan and Tatum.
