What project
are you working on now? My ADDA Art Fair solo booth in
early March, and an outdoor exhibition at Laumier Sculpture Center in
St. Louis titled "Grab Grassy This Moment Your I's," and an exhibition
at the Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut, titled "Hollow Places
Court in Ash-Tree Wood" upcoming in June 2011.
What's the last show that
you saw? David Hammons in NYC
What's your favorite
place to see art? In the back rooms of museums, and in people's studios
Do
you make a living off your art? Yes
Do you collect anything? Playmobil
dragons
What's the
last artwork that you purchased? A print by Susan
Point, a Coast Salish from Vancouver, British Columbia. It's the best
thing I have on my walls.
What's your art-world pet peeve? I am tired of witnessing the attention lavished on rebellious young men spewing unfocused anger. Art is more interesting than that!
What's the last great book you read? "Before the Dawn" by Nicholas Wade.
What work of art do you wish you owned? A small Donald Judd or a shiny work by Cheryl Donegan would be nice; but to tell you the truth at the moment I am feeling encumbered by owning things.
What international art destination do you most want to visit? Japan
What underappreciated artist, gallery, or work do you think people should know about? Nancy Shaver. Canadian artist Emily Carr deserves more recognition in the United States. And I don't understand why the art of living Northwest Coast First Nations Artists is not recognized by the pluralistic art world I move in.
