A joint exhibition between Inga Svala Thorsdottir and Wu Shanzhuan is now on in Hong Kong. The artist’s unusual collaboration is this time titled “Quote!quote!quote!” The exhibition is being presented a the Hanart gallery, where the conceptual creations will be on view until May 3, 2018.
Hanart exhibits a joint exhibition between two artists, Inga Svala Thorsdottir and Wu Shanzhuan. This show, titled “Quote!quote!quote!” is not the pair’s first time exhibiting together. Inga Svala Thorsdottir and Wu Shanzhuan’s “Quote!quote!quote!” present a recent collection of their works. In their earlier exhibition together, the artists presented a series of signature works and delicate paintings that demonstrate the geometric process by which the artists have discovered intricately structured bridge-like forms within the overlapping images of a vibrating circle. In their new show, Thorsdottir and Shanzhuan create a world of physical forms and conceptual constructs which reach beyond the senses to tickle the deeper levels of the thinking mind; and resonates with the larger questions of contemporary existence.
Inga Svala Thorsdottir was born in Iceland in 1966. She graduated in 1991 from the Painting Department of the Icelandic School of Arts and Crafts, and in 1995 from the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg. In 1993 she founded Thor’s Daughter’s Pulverization Service, and in 1999 she founded BORG. She lives and works in Hamburg, Shanghai and Reykjavík.
Wu Shanzhuan (b. 1960 Zhoushan, China) graduated from the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in 1986, and from the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg in 1995. In 1985, Wu founded Red Humour, and in 1990, he established Red Humour International. He lives and works in Hamburg, Shanghai and Reykjavík. In 1991, Wu began to work with the important Icelandic conceptual artist Inga Svala Thorsdottir. Since then, they have been working and exhibiting collaboratively.
The exhibition is on view through May 3, 2018 at Hanart TZ Gallery, 401 Pedder Building, 12 Pedder Street, Central, Hong Kong (Central MTR Exit D).
