OVERVIEW
The Bonhams London 19th Century European, Victorian and British Impressionist Art auction is scheduled on March 14, 2018. This sale offers an exceptional selection of works by some of the most important and sought-after artists. The auction boasts a masterpiece from Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida titled “Study for La vuelta de la pesca” painted during the summer of 1894 at Valencia. The current work is one of 16 known studies for Joaquín Sorolla's celebrated oil paintings: “Study for La vuelta de la pesca,” which he executed that year specifically for the Paris Salon of 1895. The sale also features outstanding works by Alberto Pasini, Henri Fantin-Latour, Dame Laura Knight, John Atkinson Grimshaw, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and John William Godward.
At the same auction last year, Bonhams London realized a total sale of £1.5 million with 79 lots. This year, the auction is expected to realize a sale of between £2.1 million and £3.1 million and there are 127 works of 77 artists on offer.
