When Not in Venice

While much of the art world is off in Venice — or maybe en route to Basel, for a head start on the crowds — those who stayed behind found their own ways to party. In New York, it was another round of gallery openings in Chelsea, despite the unfriendly weather. Elizabeth Harris Gallery, Cynthia Reeves, and Agora gallery were the latest to kick off new shows.

In Los Angeles, House of Campari hosted a party to celebrate its own new exhibition, "First Look: An Exhibition of Emerging Artists from Los Angeles Galleries," which features work by Mickalene Thomas, Luis Gispert, Agathe Snow, and others. The Thursday night event was co-hosted by LA><ART and Good magazine and featured a musical performance by up-and-coming band Port O'Brien.
