The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., will honor Catherine David with its 11th annual Award for Curatorial Excellence. David is the former artistic director of Documenta X as well as the former director of Witte de With, a center for contemporary art in Rotterdam. The award will be presented by Jeff Wall in a ceremony on April 16.
In other award news, Stan Douglas has won the 2008 Bell Award in Video Art. Douglas has exhibited in the Whitney Biennial, the Venice Biennale, and Documenta X and XI, and his work was the subject of a retrospective in Stuttgart, Germany, last year. Sponspored by Bell and the Canada Council for the Arts, the $10,000 prize has been awarded in past to artists John Greyson and VeraFrenkel, among others.
