'Hoodnyx, Voodoo and Stelae', a new exhibition by Julie Mehretu is on view at the Marian Goodman Gallery, New York, and will run through October 29, 2016. This is the second major solo show by the artist.

The exhibition features a series of new paintings and drawings by Mehretu. It also showcases a large-scale editioned etching called 'Epigraph, Damascus, 2016.' The paintings clearly reflect a new and evolved vocabulary of abstraction - bold mark-making merges with gestural modulation to create work that is at once epic and intimate. These paintings depict something of a survey of history, across both politics and art.

The exhibition is on view at Marian Goodman Gallery, 24 West 57th Street New York, NY 10019. For details, visit, www.mariangoodman.com
