Description

BAM Cinema Club members and a guest at the Movie Buff II (formerly Film Aficionado) level and above are invited to the BAMcinematék screening of Les anges du péché. The film chronicles a crusading nun’s (Faure) tireless efforts to save a defiant convict (Holt) who has been wrongly accused of a crime her lover committed. Produced during the German occupation, the film prefigures Bresson’s later thematic concerns with spirituality, salvation, and freedom, while Holt’s “superbly understated performance looks forward to the invisible acting style of Bresson’s mature work” (Dave Kehr, Chicago Reader). Free tickets are limited, so act quickly.
