In this exhibition, Caesar presents three related yet distinct groups of works: a group of platforms hold massive coins whose currency is formed in California, Massachusetts and New York State. In Caesar’s sculptures, disparate found materials — both organic and inorganic — are amassed as one in a range of sculptural forms like resin and clay. His bricks, panels, and accumulations are composed of objects, permanently suspended in solid, dense space and often obscured by dirt, dust, pigment, and a powerful cutting process. Caesar’s multilayered medium, like a sealant, preserves fragments in both temporal and spatial dimensions, acting as an organizing principle, imposing boundaries and order.
