Description

Well known for their compelling compositions and images of erotica and arboreal floral, the two artists will show mixed-media works on paper completed during the past year. Playing with the definition of authorship and the slippery boundaries inherent in collaboration, "The Other I" refers to the two artists and their long-standing working relationship investigating diverse issues of beauty and social identity. Amer and Farkhondeh have included new materials such as gold leaf to their well-established vocabularies of stitch-work, watercolor, ink, and acrylic. What is more, the two artists have begun to combine the use of thicker lines and layered colors in their works on paper to compliment their lyrical meditations on landscapes and the female form.
