Serra Sculpture Reinstalled in Paris

Serra Sculpture Reinstalled in Paris
After nearly 20 years in storage, Richard Serra's steel sculpture Slat was re-installed on Monday in the Paris business district La Défense. The work originally spent five years on view in the Paris suburb of Puteaux, but the mayor removed the work in 1989 due to vandalism and graffiti.

The sculpture's 25-ton steel plates lean on one another to form a tall, angular tepee. Slat is now grounded on a traffic island behind the Grande Arche in La Défense.
