gallery is launching a New York operation in SoHo, ARTINFO has learned. The gallery has chosen David A. Ross
, former director of the Whitney Museum of American Art
and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
, to head the new location. “Albion’s outlook has always been international, and launching a New York office allows us to look after the best interests of the leading artists we represent," said Albion founder Michael Hue-Williams
. "By establishing Albion, New York, we will be building the reputations in the U.S. of the major contemporary Asian artists we represent.”
Albion, which opened in 2004 and represents artists from all over the world, told ARTINFO it will open offices in SoHo first, followed by a specially commissioned, architect-designed gallery which will serve as both Albion's New York headquarters and an exhibition space.
